Visual Art of Disney Parks Workshop

Create detailed, two-dimensional recreations of Disney theme park landmarks in this drawing class for students, pairing principles of visual design with Disney storytelling.

Overview

Aspiring artists will apply their talent, creativity and powers of observation in this 90-minute, immersive visual art class, guided by a Disney Teaching Artist. Each art student will face the challenge to develop their own style in shape, form, light, shading, color and more, applying a host of drawing tools and sketching techniques to reimagine iconic 3-dimensional Disney theme part elements.

Another highlight of the workshop includes a question-and-answer period with their Disney Teaching Artist and other Cast Members, who can offer valuable insights into professional opportunities for art careers and other paths within The Walt Disney Company.

Learning Objectives

After completing this Arts & Humanities workshop, students will be able to:

• Explain the role of concept artwork in the development process of Disney attractions and landmarks
• Contrast the works of visual artists exploring the same subject across different styles
• Apply concepts of mood and storytelling within personal artwork
• Engage in both guided drawing and individual ideation techniques to develop an original piece of art
• Explore a variety of reference imagery to generate ideas for personal work
• Identify the ways that Imagineers and illustrators use the Principles of Design for visual communication
• Analyze peer-created artwork and provide constructive feedback

Additional information

• This workshop is currently available at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida for students in 4th grade through high school.

• A minimum of 15 students is required per organized group to participate.*

• This workshop is ideal for students who have studied some drawing/sketching, but experience is not required.
