Film scores are often renowned for leaving a lasting emotional impact on audiences, with certain themes forever linked to iconic moments on screen. You can instantly be immersed in a galaxy far, far, away or fly to an island where you never have to grow up.

At Disneyland® Resort, music transcends a screen and connects itself with guests’ personal experiences and memories. Simply hearing the soft plucking of a banjo floating through the air can take you right back to the time you took a plunge into a world of pillaging and pirates. Or maybe, hearing the subtle sound of a ragtime piano reminds you of happy memories enjoying ice cream on Main Street, U.S.A.

Music can enhance all types of journeys. From a characters’ arc in a film, to your real-life memories at Disneyland® Resort, music evolves with each person’s personal experiences, making it uniquely powerful.

Are you ready to strike the perfect chord for student learning? Our newest educational workshop, "Disney Music in Storytelling, is designed to do just that!

For 70 years, music has played a key role in bringing people together and creating happy throughout the Disneyland ® Resort. Students in this workshop will get a one-of-a-kind historical look at Disney Parks music and learn how they can bring music supported storytelling into their classroom and apply it to their own performances. By diving into concepts like the science of how we experience sound to gaining insight into the influences of some of Disney’s greatest songwriters, they’ll see how Disney’s musical legacy impacts our environment and emotions.

This intermediate level experience, intended for middle and high school students, will reinforce musical terms from classroom learning and apply them to examples at the Disneyland® Resort. As they travel through iconic Disney lands, they’ll connect these lessons by seeing (and hearing) firsthand how music shapes the guest experience.

Let’s celebrate the happy that Disney music has created for so many people with such an exciting opportunity for students to explore how these elements come together to bring stories to life!
