Students, assemble! For youth groups of 75 or more, the Disneyland® Resort is offering two new, assembly programs for interactive learning and personal development in a dedicated, larger group setting. Led by energetic and entertaining facilitators, students in grades 6-12 will discover the magic of storytelling through the physics of Disney’s roller coasters or an exploration of Disney’s approach to leadership concepts first-hand through Disney Youth Education Series Assemblies*.
Explore the details for the two assemblies below:
Disney Leadership Assembly
In this field study, students participate in an interactive leadership assembly that inspires them to grow and develop their leadership style—and gives them the tools to do it. Students will receive a deep dive into the history of Disneyland® Resort and the courage it took for Walt Disney to bring one of his most “impossible” dreams to life.
Through hands-on activities and team-building exercises, students experiment with active listening techniques, learn how to step beyond their comfort zone and discover how to grow into a leader who reflects the character and core values they most admire. They analyze their personal goals and develop strategies to achieve them, and explore in depth the power of self-esteem and confidence. The event concludes with an interactive question and answer session with a Disneyland® Resort Leader who will apply the discussed leadership concepts to their role and experiences.
The Science of Roller Coasters Assembly
In this field study, students participate in an interactive, assembly experience that inspires them to achieve their dreams in the sciences and beyond. Students will learn the mechanical physics concepts that underlie roller coaster design by drawing basic roller coaster tracks of their own, which they periodically embellish during the class as new concepts are introduced. While exploring the history of Disney roller coasters—from the Matterhorn, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad through the 21st century Incredicoaster—they examine the mechanisms and physics concepts that Imagineers used to pioneer work with linear induction motors, illustrating the importance of electromagnetism, inertia and g-forces in coaster design.
